Cap de Formentor is one of the best first rides in Mallorca. It is scenic, easy to understand and hard enough to feel like a real route. From Port de Pollença, the road heads towards the lighthouse through a sequence of climbs, descents and exposed coastal sections.

This is not a single climb. It is a rhythm ride. The outbound leg gives you the destination, but the return still has work in it. That is the mistake many riders make. They celebrate at the lighthouse and forget that the road back is not flat.

How to Build This Ride

  • Start in Port de Pollença.
  • Ride towards the Formentor road.
  • Follow the rolling coastal route to the lighthouse.
  • Turn back and ride the same road in reverse.
  • Finish in Port de Pollença for food or coffee.

Climbs Included

Villages & Coffee Stops

  • Port de Pollença is the main base and the best place to start and finish. The lighthouse is the obvious visual destination, but do not rely on it as your only fuelling plan.

Make it shorter

Ride only to one of the viewpoints and return. You still get the Formentor feeling without committing to the full out and back.

Make it harder

Add extra riding around Alcúdia or combine it with a longer inland loop after returning to Port de Pollença.

Local Notes

Formentor is popular with everyone, not just cyclists. Early morning is your friend. Wind can also change the feel of the ride, especially on exposed sections.

This is a flexible ride idea, not a turn-by-turn route. Use the climbs, villages and notes above to build your own GPX in Komoot, Strava, Ride with GPS or another planner before you ride.
