Trip planning
Where to Stay
Cycling-friendly hotels
Look for secure bike storage (not just a corridor), a bike wash point, and early breakfast service — a 7am start shouldn't mean skipping food. Many hotels in established cycling regions like Girona or Mallorca cater to this specifically and will happily store spare wheels or a bike box for a stage race trip.
Guesthouses & agriturismo
Smaller, family-run stays are often the best value in Italy and rural France — expect home-cooked dinners, fewer amenities, and hosts who know the local roads better than any app. Book ahead in peak climbing season (June–September in the Alps and Dolomites).
Camping & bikepacking
For gravel escapes and multi-day tours, campsites near cycling routes in Flanders, Tuscany and the Pyrenees are widely available and inexpensive. Confirm water refill points along the way — not every region has them as often as you'd expect.
