Passo Duran is the kind of Dolomites climb that does not need a long introduction. From Agordo, it climbs 12.2 kilometres at an average of 8.1 percent. That is steep enough to define the day and hard enough to deserve respect even before adding other passes.

In the Giro 2026 queen stage, Duran worked as part of a brutal mountain sequence. For riders, it can work as a standalone objective or as the first major piece of a bigger Dolomites route.

How to ride it

Start from Agordo and use easy gearing from the bottom.

Do not save all your respect for Passo Giau. Duran is already a serious climb.

Check how you will descend or connect before building a larger loop.

Where to stay

Agordo is the direct climb anchor. Alleghe and Feltre can also work depending on the wider route you want to build.

Practical tips

The gradient is consistently hard.

This is a climb for pacing, not surging.

If combined with Giau, treat the whole route as a major mountain day.
