Carì is one of the sharper climbs in the Giro 2026 selection. At 11.2 kilometres, it is not as long as Blockhaus or Pila, but the 8.0 percent average gradient makes it demanding from a rider’s perspective.
From Faido, the climb is a strong Ticino route anchor. It works well as a focused summit finish ride or as the hard centrepiece of a larger Swiss mountain loop. The key is not to underestimate it because of the distance.
How to ride it
Start from Faido and warm up properly before the climb.
Settle into a light gear early, because eight percent average is serious.
Keep the ride focused if you are not used to steep Swiss climbs.
Where to stay
Faido is the direct climb base. Bellinzona works better if you want more travel options and a larger town feel.
Practical tips
The gradient makes this more demanding than the length suggests.
Check weather and road conditions before riding, especially in shoulder seasons.
Plan your descent and layers carefully.
